Welcome, My name is Patrick Arnold. I am the Owner/Certified Gunsmith here at Arnold’s Arms in Box Elder, SD. I am offering Certified Firearm Repair to the Rapid City, Ellsworth AFB, and Box Elder. I retired out of Ellsworth Air Force Base, and decided that this was the path that I wanted to spend the rest of my work life doing.
Experience and Expertise:
I have been maintaining and repairing firearms since I was a kid, in 2022 I decided to take the hobby and get certified. I am currently finalizing my degree from the American Gunsmith Institute as an Advanced Master Gunsmith. I currently hold certificates for Pistols, Shotguns, and Rifles. In this study I am learning the Design/Function/Repair mentality which teaches how each style of firearm functions so that I can repair any system that comes into our doors.
Passion for Firearms:
I grew up in a family that hunted and maintaining our firearms was instilled at a young age. I participated in my first hunter safety/ firearm safety class when I was 9. Since then I have had a passion to learn about different firearms including function and repair. Now I get the privilege of helping others to preserve their firearms.
Commitment to Safety:
First off when it comes to safety we ask that every firearm is brought into our shop inside of a case or with a firearm lock engaged. Please do not remove them until it is inspected. If you are concealed carrying a firearm please keep it holstered unless a need arises. As for safety of your firearm, Every weapon that comes through our doors will be checked for safe function both before and after our maintenance. If we do repairs on them, we will take them to a range and live fire test them. If I would not be willing to fire it, I will not return it unless the firing pin is removed or the malfunction is repaired.
Quality Craftsmanship:
With the Design, Function, Repair technique that AGI has taught, we have been shown how to see how each type of firearm works, and with that how to diagnose what is causing the malfunction. With this approach I will inspect any system that comes in for the problem that it came in for and inspect it for anything that might cause a future problem.
Compliance and Regulations:
In order to receive firearms to repair I will be maintaining a FFL-01. With this I will log every firearm into my log book, and log it back out when you pick it up. This is to follow federal guidelines as we strive to upkeep all laws and regulations. With this I cannot work on any full auto firearm, or SBR, or silencer. Later down the road we will look at filing for the ability to work on these items, but as a startup this is not something I am willing to take on at the moment.
I invite you to join our facebook, email, call, or stop in to see about getting your firearms inspected and cleaned. I will give you a list of items that are showing signs of wear, and if they need replaced what the part would cost. This is a process to help you keep your firearms safe and enjoyable for years to come.
